MLHS Admission Process

The admission process is conducted through two possible options:

 

  1. Current eighth grade students who are members of LHSAGM (Lutheran High School Association of Greater Milwaukee) churches.
  2. All other applicants including transfer students from both public and private schools and current eighth grade students from non-LHSAGM churches.

 

 

Admission Process for Current MLHS Feeder School Eighth Graders

1.  Application     

Students must return a completed Application for Enrollment with a signature from the appropriate school administrator. Applications are provided at the Fall Preview, picked up in the MLHS Guidance office, or printed from the link for "Enrollment Applications."  It is strongly recommended that this form be submitted at the earliest opportunity. Applications must be submitted by January 13, 2012 to be given priority placement and selection of courses.     

All students must return a completed registration form (forms are delivered by mail or to association schools prior to registration) and $200 tuition deposit, payable at or prior to registration. Upon acceptance, the deposit will be applied to the tuition balance.     

2.  Placement Exam     

All applicants are required to complete the MLHS Placement Exam in order to be admitted. There is a $10 cash testing fee collected for each student.  Applicants must take the exam on the November testing day in order to be considered for academic tuition grants. 

Late testing may be provided in the Spring, if space remains available in the 9th grade class, however, results may not be available for normal registration and course selection.

3.  Admission Interview     

LHSAGM students in good standing and completed verification forms are not required to interview.

All other students must complete an admission interview. Parents are required to attend this interview. Applicants may be denied admission based upon an unsatisfactory interview.

4.  Registration     

Eighth grade students in good standing from association schools should call the Guidance Office (414) 461-6000 to schedule a personal registration appointment.

Registration dates for incoming freshmen from LHSAGM schools (Class of 2016) will be held: January 24 & 26, evening appointments from 6:00pm - 8pm.  (Appointments every 15 minutes). 

APPLICANTS FOR THE PARENTAL CHOICE PROGRAM WILL REGISTER IN LATE MARCH AFTER BEING AWARDED A SEAT. 

    *  Registration appointments are necessary for enrollment.

FINAL ACCEPTANCE IS DEPENDENT ON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF 8TH GRADE

Admission Process for Current Non-MLHS Feeder School Eighth Graders

1.  Application     

All non-association students must complete an Application for Enrollment to be submitted with a current report card, most recent standardized test results, and behavioral records from their previous school. Applications must include the confidential recommendation forms from your current pastor, school administrator, and teacher.       

Failure to provide requested records in a timely manner or providing false or misleading information may result in the applicant not being accepted for admission.  Applications must be submitted by December 1, 2011 in order to be given priority placement and selection of courses.     

Application for Enrollment forms may be picked up in the MLHS office or can be printed by clicking on the Enrollment Applications link on the left side of this page.

2.  Admission Interview     

All non-association applicants with satisfactory academic and behavioral records may be asked to complete a personal interview with a member of the MLHS Admission Council. Parents are required to attend the interview.

In  the interview, the mission and expectations of MLHS will be discussed in relation to the student's previous records. Applicants may be denied admission based upon an unsatisfactory interview.

Applicants may be asked to complete a secondary interview.

3.  Placement Exam    

 All applicants are required to complete the MLHS Placement Exam in order to be admitted.There is a $20 cash testing fee for all non-association students. Applicants must submit a completed Application for Enrollment and pre-register to take the exam. Only the results of November testing day will be considered for academic tuition grants. 

After the Dec. 1 deadline for registration for the Exam, interested applicants may be offered a late testing opportunity, if space remains available in the 9th grade class.  Applicants who have submitted all required application materials, including your student's most recent standardized test results and report card, will be notified if the test will be offered, however, the opportunity for normal registration cannot be guaranteed.

4.  Registration     

Applicants who have completed the Application for Enrollment and MLHS Placement Exam, and have successfully completed the interview process, must schedule a personal registration appointment by calling the Guidance Office (414) 461-6000.

A non-refundable $200 tuition deposit is required at the time of registration. Upon acceptance, the deposit is applied to the tuition balance. No deposit is required for accepted Parental Choice students.

Registration dates for incoming Non-Association students and accepted Parental Choice students (Class of 2016) will be held: Late March - TBA     

Registration appointments are necessary for enrollment and can be scheduled throughout the spring until grade levels are at capacity.

FINAL ACCEPTANCE IS DEPENDENT ON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF 8TH GRADE
