Tuition Assistance & Grants

Financial Aid is processed online through a company called TADS. You can apply online by clicking on the TADS icon. A copy of the family's 2011 Federal Income Tax forms must accompany the application. The priority deadline for filing financial aid is March 15th, 2012, with families being notified by mail of aid approval and resulting tuition obligation by April 1st, 2012.

The fee to apply for financial aid is $30.00 and must be paid online at time of application. Late applications may be affected by the amount of funds available.

Tuition Grant Program

The Board of Directors of The Lutheran High School Association established a Tuition Grant Program to assist families whose financial resources limit their ability to afford full tuition. Tuition grants are based on need and determined by a formula but may be modified if circumstances warrant. The Tuition Grant Program is not designed to provide full scholarships.

All applicants interested in being considered for financial assistance must complete an online application through TADS, an independent evaluator of specific financial needs. Applicants may visit the TADS website for answers to questions and worksheets prior to completing the application. A $30 online application fee is required. TADS will make recommendations to the Association to determine appropriate awards.

Review of applications will begin in January with assistance being distributed until available resources are depleted. Submitting material prior to the last day in February provides the best chance of receiving tuition assistance if qualified. Grants are awarded on  a yearly basis and are subject to appropriate academic and behavioral requirements.

Academic Grants

The LHSAGM  recognizes outstanding academic achievement based upon academic achievement and outstanding performances on the MLHS Entrance Exam (To be eligible for the following awards, students must complete the exam on the November testing date):

  1. National Performance:  Two $1,000 grants are available to students who register a composite score ranking in the 99th percentile nationally.

  2. Exellence Awards:  $600 grants are awarded to the top five scores on the MLHS Entrance Exam.

  3. LHGASM  Awards:  $200 grants are awarded at the discretion of member schools to the top student from each LHSAGM school. Each of these awards is renewable for the following three years based upon ongoing completion of selected criteria based upon academic performance, leadership, and service. The total amount of each award must be applied to the tuition balance.

Merit Grants

Each year, the LHSAGM may select, at the recommendation of the MLHS faculty, several continuing students deserving of merit-based grants based upon academic achievement or outstanding leadership and character. The grants are renewable based on continued recommendation of the faculty.
