BAND

Welcome to the Milwaukee Lutheran Band Department. We have a variety of bands for musicians ranging from beginners to those who have been playing for years.

Our Bands:
  • Red Knight Band is for students with no group band experience or who cannot read music on their instrument. This course aims to transition the student into Concert Band by next fall.
  • Symphonic Band performs at all major concerts and festivals. This band is open by audition and is a full-year course. Emphasis is placed on increasing musical skills, competence, and repertoire.
  • Drumline is meant for students who are interested in learning to play percussion instruments.  This course aims to transition some students to concert band or symphonic band, depending on the students' ability level.
  • Marching Band is comprised of every person in Symphonic Band. It performs at the Homecoming football game, local parades, and community events. Most activities occur during the first nine weeks of the year and in the weeks leading up to the spring tour.
  • Pep Band is comprised of every person in Symphonic Band. It performs at select home basketball and football games and pep rallies.
  • Ensembles: We have ensembles ranging from brass, flute, clarinet, and saxophone that play at various concerts throughout the year.

Additionally, all Milwaukee Lutheran band students are invited to participate in the Band Tour held during spring break of even years. Previous tours have included trips to Disney World in Florida, California, and Texas.

The impact of music education on children is profound.

Music does more than just make sounds. It changes the way we think and act. The skills your child will learn in music will help them be successful on the stage, in the classroom, and for the rest of their lives.
